Revelation IX – Hotel V’s Hotel in Motorsport Events

November 6th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

We are creating a show of lights, music, theatre, camera and of course action on 25 November 2012 when we host the ‘International Hotel and Resort GT3 Cup’ in Las Vegas at the Speedway or may be even the Strip…yes we are going to keep you guessing. What’s more we are thinking of a three, six, 12 or even a 24 hour race! After all we are crafting a production that will entertain and wow you, the spectators on the day.

The key element of the ‘Cup’ is that the participating GT3 cars will become works of art when each Hotel and Resort works with a distinguished artist to create their themed race car. Each of these cars will be converted into collector’s pieces; there will be no commercial branding on the car. These ‘beauties’ will parade along the Strip the day before and will also make appearances at different places all leading up to ‘Cup’ day.

So, let’s set the scene – close your eyes. Now imagine these stunning GT3 cars on the track lined up revving to go…Then at centre stage there is the grand opening by an acclaimed music artist with a backdrop of screens; making this enchanting event intimate and above all memorable, even before the race has begun. We are also planning to have Cirque du Soleil acrobats adding to the theatrics. How’s that for a new type of motor sport event?!

Once the cars set off on the track they will be raced to music; with lighting capturing their speed and reflecting the drama of the Cup itself. As these hotel giants go into battle to win the prized Cup, they are creating motor sport history, a heady rich mixture to raise the audience’s excitement and taking them on a journey too. So, are you ready to wager your bets on this race? This will be an event that can be watched from the comfort of your hotel room or you can participate by wandering down to the sports books. Or if you feel like getting out, then we will see you on the track.

We are creating a production that is more than a car event; we want to fill the Speedway with atmosphere. We want a motorsport event that does not just combine the skills of race drivers with beautiful fast cars, but gives everybody an experience.

The final act of the ‘Cup’ will not just be the presenting of the trophy to the winner, but will be a ceremony of pomp, panache and glamour. Making it an ending that people will want to tweet and say…we were at the ‘International Hotel & Resort GT3 Cup’ 2012 #lasvegas!

We want to hear from you. Tell us who is your favourite hotel/hotel brand…Who would you like to see challenging other hotels on the track? Would you like to see a three, six, 12 or 24 hour track event? What is your favourite GT3 car? We really want your feedback; we are listening.

Audi R8 LMS Ultra wins 24 Hours of Spa

July 31st, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

The 24 hours of Spa is the fourth round of the series of three hour endurance races sponsored by Swiss watchmaker Blancpain. Roughly half of the 67 starters finished the race, in what turned into a thrilling 24 hour race that included more than five hours under the safety car, including two long periods of heavy rain.

The entry list comprised of 67 GT cars from 12 brands in four classes Pro Cup, Pro-AM Cup, Gentleman’s Trophy and Cup. I have broken down the entry information for all you car brand fanatics like me who want to know the detail:

15 teams entered 6 brands in the Pro Cup Class

5 entered a Audi R8 LMS Ultra GT3

4 entered a BMW Z4 GT3

1 team entered the Ferrari 458 Italia GT3

2 entered the McLaren MP4-12C GT3

1 entered the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3

2 entered the Porsche GT3 R

39 teams entered 10 brands in the Pro-Am (Pro-Amateur) Class

1 entered the Audi R8 LMS Ultra GT3

1 entered the Audi R8 LMS GT3

2 entered the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3

3 entered the BMW Z4 GT3

13 entered the Ferrari 458 Italia GT3

1 entered the Jaguar XK GT3

1 entered the Lamborghini LP 600+

7 entered the McLaren MP4-12C GT3

The end of the GT1 Class has given way to the rising popularity of GT racing specifically the GT3 & GT4 classes, which are becoming a phenomenon with record entries that will continue to soar in all GT races worldwide. Over 60,000 spectators went to the 24 hour Spa while there were 230,000 people who attended the 24 hour Le mans race this June 2012. An Audi R18 e-quattro hybrid electric, won the 24 hour Le mans.

An auto insurance review

March 8th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Being in the automotive industry we at Dream Shield understand how important it is to find good, honest and reliable auto insurance, especially when there are so many different companies out there. Yet, there is one one insurance company that we do admire and trust; it’s a company that is on the road with you…it’s the award winning British RAC.

Why do we like the RAC, well it has 115 years of motoring experience, which is more than any other breakdown organisation.  We love the fact that it actually campaigns on behalf of motorists and importantly it is there for us as drivers; every seven seconds someone somewhere calls the RAC Breakdown.

What we at Dream Shield believe is that a good auto insurance provider would offer cover that looks after all the bases of protection; which means not just covering the primary concerns but the little things that we are too busy to miss. So, we believe that the RAC does just that, making it not just a good auto insurance provider but a great one! I mean if you are a Blue Badge Holder the RAC will actually make alternative travel arrangements for you by taxi, train or plane or give you a replacement car for up to three days if you car breakdown. Now that is incredible, relaible service, taking out the stress of breaking down and getting to where you need to be.

We know that car breakdowns can be very costly, it’s our business, and unless you have breakdown cover with a trusted and reliable breakdown service; it gets exactly that Expensive. The RAC is an auto insurance company that offers very flexible covers that are created to suit us as drivers and our lives. They offer short term insurance; day- by-day with no hassle to those of us who may not keep a vehicle for long; who may want to pay just for the month or if we need the insurance just for a few days or weeks.

What we really think is cool about the RAC is that it is an auto insurance company that actually thinks of our families, including our pets and provides seat belts for your pets if they ever pick you up… this is great service and we know if we were driving in the UK or in Europe we would want this auto insurance company with us on the road with its cool orange van!

Revelation X – Hot Rods and Prada

March 4th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Thanks to the never-ending search for innovation in design, fashion houses are going pattern crazy. This season, Prada’s rumbling car prints represent the label loudly and clearly.

Fashion brands are innovating their original prints to help them stand out more than any logo could. It is probably the greatest innovation of 21st-century fashion and allows designers to innovate while beefing up their brands.

“I love them because it’s a way to personalize the brand,” said designer Maria Cornejo, who has created prints based on her own distorted iPhone photos of graffiti, a feathered mask and other things she comes across. “Nobody has that print. It’s ours”.

Well, this is too what we are doing with the cars participating in our Hotel World Racing Cup; these high-end GT3 cars will transform to ‘bespoke, customised art’ becoming extensions of the Hotel property that they are racing for in the Hotel World Cup Series, 2012.

Revelation VIII – Mark of Respect

Dan Wheldon

It was very sad news when we all heard about the death of British Indydriver Dan Wheldon in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 16 2011. Our heartfelt condolences go out Dan’s family. Dan was an amazing and very talented driver. He was a champion.

Dan Wheldon died in a 15-car crash during the final IndyCar series race of the season at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. There were 34 cars entered in the race – one more entry than was the case at the far bigger Indianapolis 500 circuit.

Former IndyCar and Formula 1 driver Mark Blundell was at the circuit and witnessed the accident and has said, “IndyCar racing is dangerous. The difference [between IndyCar and Formula 1] is that you are running four cars wide, only inches apart from each other doing 220mph.”

It is important to explain that the ‘International Hotel & Resort GT3 Cup’ that we are organising is different and we want to ensure that our ‘Cup’ events will always be about the love of motorsport itself; the passion. We want to provide a platform for the hotel brands to be extended into the exciting world of cars and therefore this event will be fiercely regulated and not compromised in anyway.

We want to take out the pressure to win races and give drivers, the hotel participants, and spectators the sport itself. We will be following safety rules, performance standards that the FIA has set; a body we respect.  Car manufactures are regulated by the FIA and therefore the GT3 cars already have a high standard. The cars that will be raced in our ‘Cup’ will not be altered; except for their art; as we will be creating ‘customised art cars’.

We are ambitious and planning an event that will have excitement, drama, entertainment and colour from the world of music and theatre. We are collaborating with some of the big names from the music industry. We, ladies and gentleman are planning something quite different.

The Motor Industry Breaking into…

September 6th, 2011 § 5 comments § permalink

Breaking news! Aston Martin is a doing it and now the Hero Motor Group, India’s largest two-wheeler maker is also doing it…diversifying their business into brick and mortar…going into the hotel industry.

Hero Motors which provides integrated design, engineering and manufacturing solutions has acquired a hotel project on the outskirts of India’s Capital, New Delhi.  Pankaj  Munjal, Managing Director, Hero Motors says, “This is the first step towards building a new business vertical in the group. The hotel is on a 3.9 acre plot and will have 280 rooms in addition to a host of other facilities required to position it as a destination property”.

Hero aims to open the hotel by Diwali (the Indian New Year) in 2012 and intends to build a landmark five-star deluxe hotel to be branded, operated and managed by one of world’s top-end hotel companies. It has started the process of identifying which hotel company to manage the property and is considering international groups like the Four Season, Conrad and JW Marriot. This hotel conquest is the start of other hotel projects for Hero Motors.

Aston Martin is also entering the ‘branded destination’ market with a collection of Aston Martin villas, hotels, apartments, residences and sports clubs, the trend in luxury brands making moves on the hospitality sector shows no let-up. Other glamorous brands such as Armani, Missoni and Bulgari are also keen to enter this industry.

Another motor brand to watch and who is keen to make its way into the international hotel and resort sector is none other than Dream Shield Auto…watch this space very closely.

Antidote to Fear!

August 15th, 2011 § 1 comment § permalink

This last week the world has been witnessing the violent riots and looting in London; which I am sure like me has left you stunned. Yet, what has happened across the Atlantic is not very different to what we experience here in the US with our gun culture.

During the London riots what the British government and police found difficult to keep a tag on is the role social media played in all of it and we in the US too have seen how flash mob violence works.

What solutions do we really have to protect ourselves and our families from the possibilities of a gun wielding flash mob, empowered by social media? As both of these make a close recipe for Armageddon. All it takes today is one tweet and a town or a school could become a target and destroyed.

Now I am not trying to scare monger or get on any band wagon. Instead what I want to do is share my personal views and importantly give us all some solutions, as I am always thinking of protection; it is one of my many obsessions and pastimes. I believe our cars will become our personal tanks of security and safety. If we are away from home or away from work, away from points of safety then what we have left are our cars. I have always said cars need to be properly bullet proofed, with reinforced windows, as anyone can punch out a car window with their fists; even me!

Yes, these are real things to think about and I am sure as these uncertain times continue one of the things we will consciously start to consider is having our transport systems armoured. It will become a necessity, become part of our thinking and become part of how we protect our health.

Rock Star Cars

The Disco Ball Smart Car

I always like to show people the different sides to art and cars; there is so much beauty and synergy between the two and well, when you add music to the mix you get ‘rock star cars’. Art and cars is such a passion of mine, which is why I want to pull off the car art event I am organising next year. So, let me take you into this car art world; follow me…

Earlier this year, Apparatjik, a European art band made up the Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman, A-ha’s guitarist and keyboardist Magne Furuholmen; the Mew vocalist and guitarist Jonas Bjerre and producer Martin Terefe decided to create the Discoball Smart car, an electric-drive composed of thousands of mirrors pieces, hand-glued to the car’s exterior, taking seven craftsmen three days to complete the project. It is this bit of detail that I love about Apparatjik; they perform ‘combat-disco’ and the group dresses in costumes made of mirrors.

Then there is Matt Donahue, the Toledo based artist, musician and filmmaker who puts together collages as tributes to bands he likes. You may have seen or heard of his cars…there’s the ‘Jackson Pollocktik’, the ‘Breakfast Special’, and the ‘Record Car’. Each car designed with a specific theme in mind. Sometimes Matt creates them to spread a political message or as a tribute to an inspiring artist or they are just fun themed with collectible items, like maps or magazine covers.

I want to take the car art experience to the streets; so come on lets rev up…

Revelation VII – Innovative Hotel Marketing

We have lift off and dates for probably one of the best shows in town! We have dates for the ‘International Hotel & Resort GT3 Cup,’ Las Vegas 2012…so set your Google calendar for 24 and 25 November, 2012.

Dream Shield Auto is hosting the first ever International GT3 Cup starting in Las Vegas involving the international Hotel, Resorts and Casino community; where the cars become extensions of the Resorts.

On 24 November spectators will see a beauty parade of the GT3 cars participating in the Cup along the famous Las Vegas Strip. Remember, these high-end cars will be beautiful, dazzling, and glamorous just like the Las Vegas show girls, as the cars will become collectible art, not commercially branded in any way.

Each GT3 car will suit the brand of the Resort, so we will have the Aston Martin, the Morgan, Porsche or any other V8 Super car that is a fit for the brand and theme of the Hotel/Resort and or Casino. Dream Shield Auto proposes that these iconic cars are themed inside and outside with the exclusive decor of the Hotels/Resorts, becoming extensions of the celebrated international Hotels/Resorts themselves.

On 25 November it is ready, steady Go! It is the day of the actual ‘Cup’ event at the Speedway, Las Vegas. The cars will be raced by high-profile international drivers and there will be a very attractive Cup prize for the winning Hotel/Resort.

To put it all into context, recently, there have been some exciting announcements in the world of American Motorsport… Austin Texas announced this June a five-year agreement to bring the famous Australian V8 Supercar series to the new Circuit of The Americas in 2013. We kick off with 24 and 25 November, 2012…

Revelation VI – Hotel Art Car Racing Series…

June 21st, 2011 § 4 comments § permalink

Gucci, Ceaser's Palace, Las Vegas

Hopefully, you been following our Revelation blog series? If not here’s a quick recap – James Cuffe, owner of Dream Shield Auto, a Las Vegas based company is working on something spectacular; he is creating an ‘International Resort GT3 Cup’ in the entertainment capital of the world; Las Vegas for 2012! This is an all inclusive ‘Cup’ featuring all types of GT3 cars and all types of Resorts/Hotels whether big or small. The only criteria – is that the Resort wants to race to win! The twist is that the GT3 race cars entered in this ‘Cup’ become expensive, classic, collectible art. The cars will be themed not just with the exclusive decor of the Resorts that are situated along the famous Las Vegas Strip, but also include cars that are themed with the decor of hotels and couture brands from the around the world. In this Revelation I want to explain why we know that we are on to something big…

As the luxury hotel industry emerges from this global recession, it is looking for new innovative ways to enhance the luxury experience without spending money on the actual place or on increasing staff. The way to do this includes partnerships with luxury products that have an image value or the potential for guest service enhancement. Two of the world’s biggest hotel companies have recently reached out to other types of industries to establish partnerships which they hope will help their luxury brands continue recovery. Hilton Worldwide announced a ‘luxury manifesto’ involving conversations with industry influencers from the retail, fashion, publishing and culinary fields.

Here’s another reason why we know we are on to something cool and appealing – vice versa – Aston Martin too recently announced it is entering the branded destination market with a collection of Aston Martin villas, hotels, apartments, residences and sports clubs. The trend in luxury brands making moves on the hospitality sector will continue to grow as other glamorous brands like Armani and Bulgari too are investing into bricks and mortar.

So, I am sure you can see the synergy, all the dots joining…if you are a Resort/Hotel or couture brand get in touch and be part of the dots.
